Purpose

  • This is your why. Why are you doing this?

  • It's your mission in life.

  • It keeps you focused when distractions and setbacks come.

Passion

  • Are you willing to do it for free?

  • Achieving your dream will require long nights and many hours, of which many will be unpaid.

  • Your passion will carry you when you're tired and feel like quitting.

Persistence

  • Persistence and commitment will outdo talent any day.

  • You have to be relentless. Quitting cannot be an option.

  • The doubt and naysayers will come. Don't even crack the door to it.

  • "Never give in - never, never, never, never, never......."    - Winston Churchill

Pain

  • It's inevitable - the pain of disappointments, closed doors, rejection and jealousy from people you thought would support you but didn't.

  • You've got to be willing to endure the pain.

  • The difference between a good athlete and an elite athlete is their tolerance for pain.

  • "You're already in pain. You might as well get a reward for it."     - Eric Thomas

Perspective

  • What separates winners from losers? Perspective.

  • Winners see failure as opportunities to grow. Losers see it as defeat.

  • Opportunities come disguised as problems.

  • "I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games; 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed."   - Michael Jordan

Payoff

  • Your labor is not in vain.

  • There is a reward for those who are persistent.

  • Remind yourself that all the hard work, sacrifice and pain is going to payoff.

  • The reason most never reach the payoff, is because they can't endure the pain and the process.

Pride

  • Pride comes before a great fall.

  • Remain humble. Don't forget where you came from and why you started in the first place.

  • If what you're doing isn't directly or indirectly helping people you have to ask yourself, "Why am I doing this?"

  • Check your motives. Cause it's all about people.
